Introducing zkSync: Enhancing Ethereum's Security and Scalability
zkSync is a Layer 2 protocol designed to scale Ethereum's security and values using zero-knowledge cryptography. It aims to accelerate the mass adoption of crypto for personal sovereignty while maintaining trustlessness, permissionless access, censorship resistance, and decentralized community ownership.
Zero-knowledge proofs are an advanced cryptography technique that eliminates trust assumptions in public blockchains. With zkSync, users can rely on math and code, ensuring integrity and verifiability.
zkSync is fully open-source and forkable, ensuring that the protocol remains free and trustless. This guarantees that even if the core team or governance deviates from the mission, the community can always take control and steer zkSync in the right direction.
To ensure network stability, zkSync supports a priority queue for transactions and employs a fee system to prevent spam attacks. In the future, it will allow users to prioritize their L1->L2 transactions by paying higher fees to the operator.
While decentralization is not the end goal, it's essential for resilience and preserving freedom and inclusivity. zkSync's long-term plan is to fully decentralize the sequencer, ZK prover, zkPorter, community governance, and other critical network components.
The zkSync community, as the true owners and guardians, must hold the core team accountable and guide the protocol towards the ultimate goal of freedom.
Discover how to become an early user of the zkSync protocol in the cryptocurrency space.
In this step-by-step tutorial, I'll walk you through the entire process of getting started with zkSync, bridging ETH to your zkSync LITE and ERA wallets, making transactions on the mainnet and testnet, and exploring zkSync apps. Join me as I dive into the world of zkSync and unlock the potential of this innovative Layer 2 scaling solution. For more information, visit my website and check out the "$Airdrops" tab.
Prepare for a zkSync $Coin Airdrop: Step-by-Step Guide
Purchase ETH from an exchange and transfer it to your crypto wallet.
Connect your crypto wallet at https://lite.zksync.io/.
Click "Top Up." Select the "zkSync" option under Bridges at the bottom left: https://lite.zksync.io/transaction/deposit/. Now transfer just a portion of ETH from your Ethereum Wallet to your zkSync Lite Wallet.
Return to the home screen and click "Top Up" again. Choose the "Orbiter" option next to the previously selected option: https://www.orbiter.finance/?referer=zksync&dests=zksync&fixed=1&source=Ethereum&dest=Arbitrum.
Convert a portion of your zkSync LITE ETH to zkSync Era using the bridge (allow 24 hours for completion).
Now go back here https://lite.zksync.io/account and click Top Up again. Now we want to use ZigZag Swap to trade coins for a $0.10 - $0.50 fee per trade: https://trade.zigzag.exchange/?market=ETH-USDC&network=zksync.
You can also increase your activity with the zkSync ecosystem to position yourself for an airdrop by checking out this list of provided apps being built on zkSync here and making more transactions: https://ecosystem.zksync.io/
Now you understand and have a path to take to showing the zkSync team you are an active MAINNET user, but we also want to explore and make transactions on the TESTNET for zkSync. There are different "faucets" that will provide "Göerli ETH" aka fake Ethereum to use, here is one: https://portal.zksync.io/faucet .. Make sure in the bottom right side of the window you click on zkSync ERA TEST and NOT zkSync ERA MAIN (network).
Now click on request funds from faucet! It is going to make you connect your twitter and it will fill out a post for you to tweet showing your wallet address so the team can see it and send you Göerli ETH aka Testnet ETH.One of the final steps is to now go to the zkSync bridge and turn that Göerli ETH into zkSync Testnet ETH. https://portal.zksync.io/bridge Send "Ethereum Goerli to zkSync ERA Testnet. Send most of it over as you can always request for more Goerli ETH each day if you need more.
LAST STEP! Once transferred you can visit this link which shows all the available apps running on the zkSync Testnet at the moment. https://matterlabs.notion.site/zkSync-Era-Testnet-Applications-e38328bccda7472793024a25e26a1cac Do the same process that we did on the Mainnet, but now on the Testnet going through these apps listed.
Do this each day or every other day while we can before a screen shot is announced for active users on their network! If you put enough funds in at the beginning steps you can just repeat the other steps without needing to load more funds from step 3.
Testnet Transactions:
Acquire Göerli Testnet ETH and transfer it to zkSync LITE testnet ETH. Use the testnet apps provided to make transactions, demonstrating active user status and assisting with system optimization.
Mainnet Transactions:
Perform similar steps on the mainnet, showing monetary investment and facilitating network expansion.
